JOSÉ VICENTE AGUERREVERRE

José is an entrepreneur with passion for retail and disruptive business models. He has successfully developed businesses in technology and retail for the base of the socioeconomic pyramid. He is the Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of TakeOff Technologies Inc.  TakeOff (2016), aims at transforming on-line grocery retailing by developing a marketplace of efficient automated micro fulfillment centers, to solve for the cost and immediacy of the last mile. Additionally, José is the Co-Founder, Chairman and former CEO of díadía Practimercados in Venezuela (www.diadia.com.ve).  díadía Practimercados (2005) is an innovative business platform dedicated to efficiently distribute food, financial services and other basic categories to low income sectors of Venezuela, with great convenience at very competitive prices – breaking longstanding retail paradigms.

José graduated in Mechanical Engineering, Summa cum Laude, from the Universidad Simón Bolívar in Venezuela (1997). He holds a Master in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School, where he graduated with the highest honors (Baker Scholar) in 2002. In addition to founding Takeoff Technologies and díadía Practimercados, he has also worked as Social Entrepreneur in Residence at Harvard Business School as a management consultant, with Booz Allen & Hamilton in Latin America and the U.S., as an investment banker with Merrill Lynch in Europe, and as well as a Marketing executive with Procter & Gamble in Latin America.

José was awarded with the Orden José Félix Rivas (1998) – Highest distinction given by the Venezuelan Government to college students based on outstanding academic and leadership achievements.  He was elected Social Entrepreneur of the Year, by the World Economic Forum’s Schwab foundation (2013). He is an active member of YPO (Young president organization) and the social entrepreneur’s community at the World Economic Forum.
